About us
PortalKids is an Ofsted registered after School and Holiday Club. Established in 2017 running from Hollinswood Primary School and Nursery.
Portalkids follows the Playwork ideals, which means that children are free to direct their own play and development. Using planning in the moment, allows the children to interact with whatever has sparked their interest and learn from their own play. We join in when they invite us and we facilitate their safe and fun play. This ensures the children get the most from their experience at Portalkids.
We are strong believers in allowing children the freedom and challenge to develop in their own way, whilst receiving guidance on appropriate social interactions. Structured activities are provided to help children develop an understanding of customs, celebrations, the world around them and more. Children are free to join these or not as they wish, but we encourage all children to try new activities.
Our club runs on respect for each other. Everyone is welcomed as equal.

Our Afterschool Club
Children are able to take part in structured activities and free play. There are a variety of toys and play equipment available each evening including table tennis, board games, craft, card games, outdoor play, construction toys, jigsaws and much more. Children are offered a healthy snack during the evening. At this time, we encourage the children to sit sociably and talk about their day, or whatever has sparked their interest.
Afterschool Club
Being based at Hollinswood Primary School and Nursery, we are able to enjoy a range of outdoor spaces when the weather allows. Inside we have two main rooms where children can enjoy free play. There are a wide variety of toys and games available for the children to choose from. We offer structured craft, cooking, science etc activities if the children wish to join these.
PLANNING IN THE MOMENT
Whatever a child is playing with or exploring at that moment is interesting them. They have a desire to learn more and continue this, so we let them. Not only that, we encourage and try to add to their play. It could be that we put suitable equipment by them, or we might give a suggestion. There are lots of ways to add to a child's play and their enjoyment of it.
As Playleaders, we ensure that the play is safe and respectful. Also, we will join in with the play if invited to by the child.
Holiday Club
PLEASE NOTE CHANGES TO HOLIDAY CLUB AS STATED IN NEWS SECTION
During school holidays, Portalkids offer fun and exciting activities for children aged reception to year 6.
Daily adventures start at 8.30am and end at 4.30pm.
Often holiday club has a theme and includes visits out. Portalkids is here for the children to enjoy, so we ask them about how and where they want to play. We do our best to offer the children the activities they ask for. Even if this means making lots of slime!
Health and wellbeing are important to us, and we know how being physically active and out of doors benefits this. You will regularly find us out and about exploring in nature and helping promote the wellbeing of everyone at Portalkids.
As we are very close to the Telford Town Park and Randlay Valley, we make good use of their facilities and you will often find us there.
